Pleasant Vertigo
All photography by James Colburn
I hope to do more collaborative work with this talented photographer (and close friend) in the future!
Transitions frozen,
As I inhale cold, crisp air.
The weightless light shines
On ice and liquid and dirt—
An interplay of phases.
Glassy stillness thinned,
Forcefully concentrated,
Foaming—then calming.
Potential cocooned,
Teetering between that line
Of death and rebirth.
Life-sustaining gems—
Motion hiding its secrets—
Communing with light.
Snapshot of water
In perpetual reaching,
Tapering downward.
A leaf bridges two
Worlds: One that is crystalline
And one of loose gas.
Sunrise and sunset:
A heartbeat! Its poker face:
Impenetrable.
Leaves play in fractals
And love to bathe in shadows,
Stretching to the sky.
I apprehend height.
Yes! Hollow isn’t broken;
It’s space for light waves.
I have known places,
And time is marked in beauty.
I have traveled far.
I have been wowed by nature.
I cross an intersection.
